What is my animation about?

My animation is charting the transition between new year eve 2007 and new years day 2008. I have recorded the ringing in of the new year with the Otley band of ringers. I will then hopefully put animation with that. I am planning to make it 2 or 3 minutes long this will quite testing because the longest animation that I have ever made was about 30 seconds. I think that 2 minutes will be manageable considering my ’packed programme’. 

Why is there no animatic?

There is no animatic because of the nature of production. I will be doing the editing, sound and animation in tandem so it would be rather tricky producing an animatic considering that I can not even lay down any sound. This style of production seems to be very intuitive and goes against practically everything that I have been taught so far.

What will I be using to make my animation?

I will be making this animation with after effects and photoshop. I get on really well with after effects and find it so much better than the hated flash. All of the people in the animation will be made by parenting all the joints together and the moving them like virtual 3d. I want to do some of my work at the Tobacco Factory because as I have found from my national diploma course community input is very important to the development of a film.

What materials do I still need?

I’m not sure what I really need yet because the film is full of farmers I want to make the film out of junk. Every thing should be very incongruous this is not however an attempt to be ‘carbon neutral’

Who am I making this for? and Why am I doing this? 

I am making this film for my self because I am not planning on working professionally in the animation industry. I can see my self doing this as a hobbies but not as a carrier. Instead I am setting myself up with the ship and various company’s so I can go into marine engineering and play with some proper big engines. Contrary to popular belief I have no intention of dropping out of university nor have I ever seriously entertained that idea, what would be the point? I rather stay in university and buy my self some time than explain to my parents why I dropped out. Besides If I had of dropped out I would have had to move back in with my parent 2 years too early and I would have never of decided on what I was going to do with my life. O yeah and a point is a point.
